Sabres sign Alex Biega (Harvard) - D for Portland. 2 year entry level deal.

Kid is a leader and solid player. It will be interesting to see if he can make an impression in Portland with our crowded blueline. We have Brennan, Schiestel, and Persson already in Portland with a seasons worth of experience. They have recently added Nick Crawford. McNabb could also be coming. Generous and Kostka might also return, both played solid hockey for the Pirates last year and are RFA's.

The Buffalo Sabres are set to announce the signing of Jacob Lagacé to a three-year contract worth $1.675M. Lagacé, a fifth round pick in the 2008 draft, recently completed a three-year QMJHL career that saw him collect 90 goals and 114 assists in 191 games. In 2009-10, the 5'11, 196-pounder scored 35 goals and 73 points between Chicoutimi and Cape Breton.

This team is going to sit on their hands and do NOTHING again while every team around us is improving. Why try to improve with Horton or Hamhuis when they can talk with two medicore defensemen who are leaving anyway?! Darcy Regier is the best GM in the league!

Brad Richards is still available and Connolly and Roy are still being shopped. I'm not saying I think Regier will actually DO what I want, but he absolutely still CAN.

Why do people think Brad Richards is comming here or even has a chance to come here. Give it up. You are only getting your hopes up for disappointment.

Just wondering, but have the RFA's been made qualifying offers yet? I read a TSN article about Andrew Ladd getting a qualifying offer, and this particular sentence gave me a jolt.

Quote

Restricted free agents that aren't offered a qualifying offer by Monday become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

There's the article...but I really hope Darcy made qualifying offers to Kaleta and Kennedy, since I don't remember reading it anywhere. The deadline is....tommorow?

I saw some stuff on QO's the other day, I'll see if I can find it again - but RFA QO's are just one of those things that you don't really hear much about unless someone botches it on a particularly hot RFA (a'la Chicago last year)

BTW, I don't think they have to SIGN the qualifying offer, I think it just has to be offered.. most reports don't come back until the player has either signed or opted for arbitration (where applicable).

Darcy said that he has two of the top 2 centers in the game. Both Connolly and Roy are top 20 centers. LOL. Roy is amazing in the playoffs, his effort wow.LOL. Connolly I'm sure would have been fine in the playoffs but he was hurt again like always.

I prefer a couple sites for some Sabres talk; sites where some civility exists, hopefully, and no half cocked trades or silly rumours are discussed....
